I am really liking the ak100ii, but it does feel a little bland.
Very nice and neutral, but lacking a little musicality for me.

Perhaps this mod would pep it up.

Only bad thing is the mod costs the same as another dap.

But it is quality work and no doubt pretty fiddly.

I have some suggestions for Astell & Kern...
 
1) product to support USB3 (no real reason not to these days
 
2) a lock screen function with passkey for security...
 
of course, something like find my iPhone would be awesome, but since this isn't a phone device and lacks a sim, it's not doable...imagine if you lost this on a train or bus, there'd be no way to remotely turn it off or lock it or track it...it's gone...

That's actually a really great idea!

I'll add to my prior suggestion post - the option for users to send their AK units back to get hard drive upgrade options to larger storage sizes (at the customer's cost of course).  I mean, if I could get my AK 120 II upgraded to a 256 or 512 storage level, I'd go for it.  AK please make this an option for your users.

Yeah its pretty cheap. I nearly bit the bullet last week when over here in Australia we had 15% off everything on eBay.com.Au.
It was ridiculously cheap, but I was a bit funny about it so I bought a ak100ii locally instead.

How does the UM sound with the AK100II? I have similar CIEMs. 
 
I am afraid it may have lots of background hiss like the original AK100. I am also going for the AK100II, because I can't afford the higher end one as a student working part time, lol.

I generally haven't had as much time work it as I would have liked.

Hopefully get some more play time this week.

Coming from a dx90 it sounds almost boring. That being said though, it is better IMO in most regards Ryan the dx90, just it's presentation is very neutral compared to the dx90.

The dx90 is a teenager, eager to please.
The ak100ii is an experienced 40 something and tells it how it is

Zero hiss on my JHAudio 13Pros.

We currently do in Europe much more expensive prices than in U.S. 
the taxes are very high but with 24 months warranty 
find but it still is good for the AK 120 II 
I am looking forward if it still comes this week
