Bose vs Monster Beats by Dre(negative thread)

What are your opinions? I know both of these are horrifi. But i always thought to myself why do they cost so much, and why do people think they are so good???I mean i Know they are the best headphones you can get at BestBuy but still?

maybe other people like it because they havent heard what great IEMs. only thinking of the "ooh. i like the bass!. so loud!" or they just want to have one to be cool? hhaa

1) The average person doesn't care much for sound quality
2) It is a status symbol to have beats
3) Beats are very well marketed. When you have studio producers in American Idol wearing them, what else is the average person supposed to think?
 
Edit: I am referring to the beats, haven't heard any bose headphones.

Contrary to many members' opinions, I honestly can say that I don't think Bose nor Monster Beats to be as terrible as people portray them to be.
 
Both brands ride the "trend" bandwagon like no tomorrow and the ripple effect takes place amongst the consumers' respective social circles, thus snowballing the exposure of the brands. They are also very easily attainable and to the casual listener using stock buds, anything would be considered an upgrade and the difference would probably impress them a lot.
 
I don't know about Bose headphones, but I have heard their multimedia system and it wasn't impressive. I heard the Monster Beats headphones at a Best Buy before and the sound wasn't to my taste, but I wouldn't really say it was terrible, I could see people enjoying them.
 
The price points and the facade of being a "high-end" product annoys me greatly though.

The sad thing is that all they offer at the apple store is Bose and Beats by Dre. Both having Artificial sound.

I was at Best Buy last night to check out DAPs. A family of 5 was over at the Monster/Bose listening station. The tallest kid picked up a demo pair of black-colored Beats and said they were the ones he wanted for his birthday because "everyone at school has them." The dad points to the Bose QC and asks why not those. The kid replied, "Those are good, too, but they're only for old people."
 
I laughed a little when I heard one of the other kids say, "You should get earplugs instead." (I'm sure she meant earphones, but still lol.)

I was at the gym today and people there use beats IEM (1 person was wearing a solo headphone how do you workout with that on your head?) Bose earphones and the white stock apple buds.

i agree with those who say we are to harsh on monster and bose. yes it is true you can get better for your money but at least people are realizing spending $200 on headphones is no big deal and they might start to look into better cheaper options and do a bit of research. i wouldn't have my shure headphones if i didn't start with skullcandy for example.

I don't know why people would buy headphones just for style. I mean if i were him i would rather get some other cool looking headphones so that I would stand out.
I would still take the Bose over the Beats by Dre.

Totally not the best you can get at Best Buy. They sell KOSS Pro DJ 100s, Monster Golds, and Monster Miles Davis as well.
