Back in the dark ages (late 1970's) Audiovox made a "power booster" for your car stereo (I think I paid about $30). The only good thing that could be said for it was that it *did* make everything louder. Beyond that it was an amazing distortion engine - and if you fed it a questionable source (like my piece of crap 8 track player) and dirty power (like from my piece of crap self-installation) the result was truly horrible. But it was loud. When it's 1978, you're 17, and you have "In My Time of Dying" playing at 12:30 AM on a Friday night - "loud" works...
If it's enough to simply *have* an amp, then I suppose a boosteroo for $4 would probably meet the need - beyond that, I would look elsewhere...
PS: Here's a surprise, it looks like RS sold a version of that power booster for many years...
