Head's up to anyone interested in the Blur MX300 美魔女 Beautiful Witch "aPs" Edition (300Ω)... this current run is ending soon.

As a custom builder Wong doesn't buy parts (wires, plugs, drivers) in bulk thus explaining why he has so many different and varying models and limited run numbers.

There are now only three (3) MX300 美魔女 Beautiful Witch aPs editions remaining as follows:
  • Oyaide 2.5mm (2.5TRRS); Blue Shell
  • Oyaide 3.5mm (3.5SE); Black Shell
  • Rhodium Plated 4.4mm (4.4TRRS); Red Shell
You can few them on his Instagram here

The next version of the MX300 美魔女 Beautiful Witch aPs will use completely different cabling and possibly no longer terminated with Oyaide plugs... undetermined release date because Wong is busy working on other models and new designs --- I will soon post a brand new Limited Edition model once I have had time to listen and reflect on it.

Introducing the

Ultimate Basshead Limited Edition

Blur 256 PK16 White Face (16Ω);
2.5TRRS Balanced;
No. 1 of 5

Blur PK16 White Face.jpg

Blur now has bass!!! Meet the White Face.
After much coercing (and begging), I finally managed to convince and commission a basshead model from Wong Kuan Wae 🇸🇬. Personally, Wong is not much of a basshead as he prefers natural timbre and accurate soundstage presentation and position above all else. Thus why he has stoically resisted creating a basshead model in the past. Rightly so, as it was no easy task for him to select the correct driver with the right bass response that would still enable him to maintain the Blur House Sound (tuning) which he requires of all his earbuds to have before releasing them. He is quite stringent about this requirement and has refused to release models (even when specially commissioned) if they fail to meet this strict tuning criteria. The bass heavy 16Ω drivers he used are 5dB louder in the bass region than any of the other drivers he experimented with for this project and was the only driver that he could coerce his brand tuning out of. Wong choose to use the small PK type shell for both it's comfort and excellent bass responsiveness and wired with 256 multi-stranded cabling (Litz OCC Copper; two x 128 multi-stranded).

Although, there have been three (3) previous bass-tuned models in the past, the Blur 初の "The First" BassHead (MX 32/64/150Ω); Blur 173 Thai Bass-Tuned Edition (PK 32Ω); and Blur daBass (MX 32Ω) Wong considers this to be Blur's first true basshead lovers model.

Please note that this is indeed a very special model and only in limited numbers as Wong has only a few of these special bass heavy drivers remaining and a limited amount of this uncommonly available 256 multi-strand copper cabling left to make maybe two or three more units max.

As always, the Blur 256 White Face is supplied with a handmade leather pouch and cable organizer made by Wong's wife Kit Hey. The 256 Litz OCC Copper cabling used on this model is very supple and much softer than Blur's 173 and 266 type-cabling seen (used) on recent models.

The Blur 256 White Face is named after it's striking white-colored shell driver cover that reminds one of 白い顔 <<Shiroi kao>> (a Japanese white-faced ghoul). These earbuds are indeed ghoulish in their timbre & bass monster-like presentation.

Then following is the FR chart for these particular earbuds. The bass is actually quite addictive and amazingly the Blur House Sound has been maintained. So although a basshead sounding earbud it still remains very musical with excellent, lively timbre and the expected Blur SQ (resolute mids and sparkling low treble) with very little bass bleed over.

One can quickly see why the heavy and loud bass does not over power the highs which also do not dive or droop but rather continue nearly straight across until 20kHz.

How much USD

I'm just wondering, what's the cheapest Blur bud that's been offered so far?
Straight-up Blur models that were priced lower (USD$ ~100-150) would be some of the simpler variants of the Brokee, Minimalist, and Zero model lines. Most recently would be the Blur 69.

Wong did offer a number of amazing BlurMods that were priced much lower (USD$ ~75-100) such as the BlurMod Black Panther (2006 NTT DoCoMo); the BlurMod White Bitch (Aiwa); and the BlurMod Zero Vido to name a few.

The following is a nice capture of all his models to date (the best I could do): Blur Models Timeline

Thanks for this. Is there any way to know what he has to offer (with price included) presently aside from PM-ing him on FB? Because it seems like everytime I PM him on FB there's only the more expensive models available and never the less expensive ones :| I'd love to own a Blur bud but would like to start with something that wouldn't hurt the wallet so much...

Not really. His current available models are there on FB and IG. Pricing is via DM. Ask him if he would make a lower tier model for you. If he has the parts he usually will. Most likely it will be the "69" or maybe a "Zero" unless he has something "new" up his sleeve that I don't know about.
