Bluedio R+ Bluetooth 4.0 Headphones with NFC and APT-X

I heard there are FAKE R+ Legends in circulation. Supposedly you can tell the REAL ones from the FAKE ones by measuring the frequency response. The genuine ones have a response of 5-25khz, the fakes have a frequency of 10-22 KHz. I have no idea how to test this, I'm not an experienced audio guy. I bought my r+ legends for only $47 dollars, I'm really afraid they are fakes, please help me test them when I get them!

Hello,

for anyone who wants to connect to headphones and make firmware update, enable aptX see:

https://github.com/lorf/csr-spi-ftdi

It is directly support CSR8645 chip.

It use cheep FTDI USB 2 RS232 adapter with modified dll to allow CSR software use it. It needs 1.8V version or modification of 3.3V version FTDI board - reduce 3.3V by connecting two diodes at series and add 270Ohm resistors to communications pins between headphones and adapter.

See schematic:

mmmm..... interesting when these chinese factories are now making fake cheap chinese brand headphones.... i thought they make only fake expensive international brand headphones.... look what this world has become OMG..... XD

You need specialist equipment to test frequency response, which we dont usually have such equipment unless you really test headphones on regular basis so you will buy one. but i guess we can spot something out of ordinary from the product itself? snap us a couple pics of the box, the menu, accessories and the headphone maybe? I sell Bluedio stuff before so maybe, just maybe, I can spot something? show me some i'll give it a try :)

There's a blue Bluedio authenticity sticker on the backside of the retail box. Scrape it off - you'll find a code underneath. Bluedio website has a tool that'll check the code and tell you if it's genuine (or fake) :)

Hey guys! Did any body try the decision by halentech??
Is there any SPI programming pins on the PCB inside the headphones?
I'm electronics-man and I'm very interested to unlock AptX during connection to smartphone.
I think, it will be difficult to disassemble headphones keeping it beautifull because I should unstick the onlay to reach the screws. So it's highly appresiated to be sure that I could program then phones well and get them working.

Or just let me know your opinion about this headphoned since 2014 year. They are still actual on the market. Thanks!

Just purchase the official USB-SPI programmer from Bluedio. It includes a cable that plugs right into the microUSB on the headphones - absolutely no tampering is required. :)

I shared a link to my Dropbox folder that includes how-to instructions and tools & drivers. Use search and you'll find it!

As for the headphones... Out of the box? Probably not going to disappoint you. You would not be holding the box if you were an audiophile.
Now, with the SPI tool? Now we're talking! There's an option to disable the built-in compressor (which seems to be tuned to provide more impact for drums and other spikes in volume, but really it just drowns out a lot of detail), then there's the 5-band parametric equalizer. That's right - not graphic, but parametric. This is where you'll shave off the spikes and valleys in the frequency response graph.
I've padded the inside of my headphones (NOT the earcups, I mean the space with wires and electronics) with cotton to eliminate some inaccuracies caused by the shape of the interior of the headphones, and compensated the trailing lack of punch with the built-in equalizer, and now it's the most accurate piece of audio equipment I have ever owned! Trust me, if you take the plunge and purchase the SPI programmer along with the headphones, you won't be disappointed.

Hi, I was prepared for try it (connection is throught 5 pin micro usb connector), but I decided to return phones to store.

It has too much problems with sound. I am not satisfied with quality of this product. It does not sound good for its money. No highs and mids only bass. Presence of stereo is weak too. It it propably not clear stereo, but some Joint stereo stuff inside... crap. Also headphones has problem with L/R level balance. R is more louder. Propably headphones has enabled compressor of sound in sound processing... Why???? My old Koss Porta Pro are cheaper headphones and sounds much, much better (perfect stereo presence, better mids and highs) and it is no HiFi headphones at all.  Bluedio boast about "HiFi" R+ headphones. HiFi should be removed from this statement. It is unfurtonatelly bad experience for me with Bluedio. I have genuine phones (checked through sticker). I will not try to flash headphones or buy original CSR programmer.

This repairs and corrections (turn on Apt-X, turn off compressor, set EQ to right levels, L/R balance) should be did by Bluedio before mass production, otherwise they are selling crap, which must be tuned by end customers... Nonsence. I did not understand, why they are still selling this crap and do not repair it.

Comparing maybe 25+ years old design of Porta Pro with this "headphones" is tragic for Bluedio at all.

Thank you very much for reply!
I asked official shop on aliexpress about re-programming and they said there is no firmware now. It is difficult to talk to them as they reply ones in 2-3 days and tell very cagily (like the most China's sellers).
So, I don't know where to buy original programmer and, honestly speaking, I really don't like to pay smth about $20 in excess.
I like electronics and may be I would be able to build original programmer if you could kindly make a high-resolution photo of printed circuit board inside your one. If we success, it could be much profit for all owners of Bluedio R+.

PS: at the same time halentech is right that user should not tune developer's mistakes. But this headphones still have much well points and one of them is their low price. So, manufacturer don't take care of it because people buy it. As I understand, people in China try to survive in permanent rivalry (in economic sense): they easier would make more new adds and products than honestly talk with buyer and improve their products.

Sorry about that - I shifted a lot of things around in my Dropbox, subsequently causing the link to break. I restored the folder to its original location so the link should now work: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/11zmhypve7m986a/AADbcGpB9pltSB547kKDAsFga?dl=0

No, not yet.  I got everything downloaded, but need to look through everything so I understand the process.  Oh...and get one of those USB interfaces!

I haven't really looked into how easy it will be to get one and who I have to contact.
