I'm using eq on fiio music player (fiio m11) and i still not satisfied.
What is the mesh mod?
How about removing the filter ? I see someone remove the filter on bl03. Thanks :)

It’s pretty good. You will need aftermarket metal mesh (sometimes called dust network) to do the mod. Some people didn’t like the elevated upper mids after the mod.
Not sure about the fiio’s EQ but I use either neutron’s or UAPP’s PEQ with a great success on the bl-03.

If you have a good PEQ, low shelf cut will be still the best option.
You could also block this tiny vent by the cable connector to see if reduced air flow might change the bass quantity.
For me a pure silver cable changed the bass quantity. The NiceHCK pure silver litz cable.

Yes that is exactly what I am using. Balanced 2.5mm out from the 9038S.
Little PEQ to suit my taste. Pure musical bliss!

I cant imagine a balanced cable is making any difference in an extremely short iem cable unless you are running off a balanced amp and even then...as the power requirements are so low.

Most daps have much more power output with the balanced port than the SE port. That is the biggest difference in going balanced.

Do you see what my cable is attached to? e1DA is one of the most transparent DAC out there and it only supports the 2.5mm balanced out. It outputs 550mW@16Ohm with vanishingly low THD@1kHz@-3dbFS .0002%. Balanced cable is just there to transport this signal to the transducer. This properly amped Blon compared to my backup pair hooked up to my iPhone sounds noticeably different in a good way.

edit: arg i took too long to write.

That’s the only way to run something balanced.

I mean Iv witnessed people using balanced cable with adapter frequently. Not condoning it just an observation.
Thats probably so they dont have to switch out the cable and more so if the cable is expensive.
