From the looks of it, it does look like mine.
But the reason why he removed the wood is totally unknown.
And the worst part is that i've never listened to any other grado headphone so i can't compare its sound.
Is it possible that this is just an SR-60 with a SR-225 housing?
I would never know.
I mean it sounds good, but i'm basing this off of all I know.

Your SR-225 Grados were of the SR-225i, correct?  If that's the case, then they have a thicker cable on them.  The older, SR-225 did not feature the thicker cable.  Plus, if do you have the thicker cable, shine a flashlight in through the screen and look at the connections to the drivers.  There should be 2 wires connected to each terminal of the driver - a total of 4 wires for each driver.

SR125i - PS1000 all do. It's bulky, heavy, but it sure does make it sound good

And I've yet to hear back from Bill after his return where I got a "we'll discuss this more when I have time tomorrow" or something to that effect.
