On another note, Pete Carini sent me the A20 amplifier that Beyer just released this week. I am in the process of burning it in and will start a thread for some initial impressions. The retail is 679.00 for the amplifier.

how is frank. did you get around to writing some impressions on the T1/WA5? By the way what is your fav headphone for the WA5 at the moment?

I like all the headphones on the WA5 so I really have no favorite. The T1 will be reviewed with the A20 amp and down the road the WA5 but I dont expect to do the WA5 review till october,

^ I hope they took the qualities of the DT1350 and really improved the soundstage. If they managed to squeeze even more isolation out of the on-ears, color me impressed.

That would really surprise me... They would not have put out just a facelift version of the DT1350 in that case...
The T51p might be better balanced than the T50p, but I think the T51p and the DT1350 are aiming at different markets.

The T51p has higher potential to be more interesting in sound as it has more design freedom than a professional headphone. A professional does not need a headphone that captivates, it's a tool.

You're absolutely right, though 'interesting' has a bit of a negative connotation for me... In most cases I prefer the honest tool -- therefore my definition of better is skewed against the consumer-oriented T51p. Nevertheless there is nothing to say against a tastefully done coloration: I like my M-100 very much, despite its obviously opinionated sound signature.

Came very (very) late to the T50p party and looking forward to trying the T51p. Understand they will be available in EU from Beyerdynamic GmbH in 4 weeks and from Thomann from 30 August.

I've got the A20 now as well, using it with the T90. While it's a nice little enjoyable warm sounding amp, I prefer the T90 on tubes by far. What do you think?

I bene listening to the A20 and agree its a good amp for the money and I no longer have the T90 here so I do not know how it would sound with the A20.  I have not heard the A20  with the T90. I did however love the T90 with the Woo WA7.
