Beyerdynamic T5 (3rd Generation)

So I've just ordered a set of these T5.3's but have read that the stock cable is awful for microphonics from clothing etc. Is this really the case, should I just pull the trigger immediately with a different cable? Also, how do these T5.3's compare to Focal Clear Pro's?
The stock cable for the T5.3 is high likely the same as for T5p.2 and as stated by bombina, zero issues..

Where are you located?
USA. It seems like it is available in the EU market directly from Beyer, but not in the USA for some odd reason. Contacting Beyer directly, it seems like they are unable to help or sell in USA. I searched a lot of the stores in their distributors list, and none of them have replacement parts. This seems very odd? Is this the norm?

Thats unfortunate. I think some people mentioned a Beyerdynamic presence in US, at least they do have a specific website:
https://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/
Is that the one you tried to contact them on?

They seem to offer parts directly:
https://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/headphones-headsets.html?custom_type=706
But the T1.3 pads are not listed unfortunately. There is a mail address though: info@beyerdynamic-usa.com

You might also try to ask at Thomann:

They don't list the T1.3 pads either, but at least the 2. gen pads are there... so maybe they can help you out

So I contacted Beyerdynamic first, and they gave me a kind "we can't help you, go look on the distributors list if you like" type of email (from two different reps with the same email, mind you). For a company that only does and specializes in audio, I was surprised by their generic response twice and lack of ability to help. Their distributors list is big generic list, basically includes all audio appliance stores you can think of. I have gone through 40+ stores on that list at least, and not a single one of them stocks replacement parts, except for 1-2, which were for the 770s I believe.

I also contacted Thomann before, and they said they had the part in stock (though not listed on the website), but are not allowed to sell it to USA customers per Beyerdynamic.

For a flagship headphone, this is really surprising and disappointing, as this is my first real experience with Beyerdynamic.

Sorry to hear that, sounds like that kind of Kafkaesque search that nobody wants to go through.
What is so interesting to me is that Beyerdynamic explicitly wants to sell directly via its US site... and then they won't sell you the pads you need? Thats just strange...

Maybe you could ask a smaller audio shop that carries Beyerdynamic T1/T5 for help (others might not get the spare parts for those models I guess) and let them go through their more direct contacts?

I'd be happy to send you a pair but shipping costs would make that prohibitively expensive...

Have you tried contacting their US repair service? If you ever have warranty/non-warranty repairs, parts, etc. these are the people to contact. Not sure if the they’ll have the pads though. I’m seeing pads on the T5.3 listed there but not the T1.3 but they may have some if you contact them.

There must be a specific reason we don't know of. I mean, I can't imagine Beyer doesn't wanna sell, they surely wanna sell everything.
It's really strange. I remember my time when I was searching to OEM earpads for my Klipsch Heritage HP-3 and was lucky I found a store that sold me that. I ordered 3 pairs just to be safe. Of course that headphone has been continued since years now. The T1/5 are still fully thriving. Though I like my T5p.2 a lot since I pair it with my Klipsch Heritage amp which makes the treble much smoother.

They don't have it in stock either. TBH, I am surprised at the price of the T5 pads -- overpriced.

Anyone know how the T5.3 compares to the DT 700 Pro X and 900 Pro X (yes, open back)? Build quality looks good/durable, but obviously unsure how the Stellar.45 drivers companies to the Tesla driver. I can’t just recommend the T5.3 to a casual person looking for a new pair of headphones, given the price tag, but the 700/900 Pro X is a lot more accessible to friends at 250-300$, so would love some feedback from people that can give a comparison. Thanks!

Hi guys, bit of an emergency here. I bought some 'new other' T5's for best part of £600 from ebay. Trouble is the outser casing doesn't match those that I have seen online and on youtube unboxings, the luxury velour type outer casing isn't there on mine. It's a definite material casing. The earphones look (and sound) decent enough, though being my first set of 'decent' cans, I'm not sure I would tell the difference going by sound, having never auditioned these in a shop. The earphones, serial etc match and are identical but this case makes me have doubts. Do any of you owners, new and old, have this case? Perhaps the case is a UK/EU version that's different to the US (I'm in UK)? Apologies for the huge images, just wanted to give as much detail as poss.

Panicking massively here they could be fake... Please let me know ASAP

I just took this screenshot on the beyerdynamic.de page for the contents of the T5 package:

That case looks like the one in your photos, doesn't it? Or do I get something wrong?
