Beyerdynamic T5 (3rd Generation)

Has anyone tried any other pads with these, aside from the Dekoni Hybrids?
I have tried them with the dekoni sheepskin and velour, as well as some brainwavz pads.

My main goal was to find more comfortable pads, drive I find the dekoni increase the clamp force too much, and the velour sound is not to my liking though they are a bit more comfy than stock. The brainwavz were not an improvement over stock imo, and the build quality of the pads is not super.

Beyond the very big differences in sound between velour and others, I found it difficult to a/b pads for smaller differences, since it takes so much time to switch between pads.

Well, i use T5.3 with Dekoni Hybrids, i think they sound fantastic with them. Brings down the bass a little and ads a little stage & clarity.
Thanks again for sharing that—I ordered a pair of elite hybrids that arrived yesterday (Dekoni shipped them within like an hour of ordering, which is rad) and I agree with your assessment. These tone down the bass slam just a tad, which helps with overall clarity. And they're quite comfortable too! Very happy with them. They're considerably thicker/more plush than the stock pads.

I got a pair of T5.3 and currently really enjoying them. Just a quick question, are the T1.3 velour ear pads compatible with the T5.3? The Beyerdynamic support staff is adamant that it is not.

Physically compatible I think yes, but they are different and part of the tuning, so switching pads changes the tuning — so to the Beyerdynamic support the T1 pads won’t fit the T5 in the sense that the tuning changes.

This is the reply I got from Beyerdynamic (two sales assistant), hence my confusion.

Don't worry. They are physically compatible. It will only alter the sound signature though.

Anyone tried the velour T1.3 pads on the T5.3, with thoughts on comfort and sound? Thanks
Ive tried the velourpads that came with DT177X (dont know exactly wich Beyer pads they are) and thougt comfort and sound were really good! Much better sound than the thin hollow i get with dekoni elites. Similiar to the sound from Dekoni Hybrids.

It seems like the T1.3 velour pads are unavailable at the moment anywhere. Except for the Dekoni, any other velour pads from Beyer that are compatable? Also, I have no issues with the cable that is included, did you upgrade the cable and was there a real difference? Thanks

I am not 100% sure, but Beyer pads should be compatible along the various ft models with the T5. At least in terms of fit, but of course not for sound.

Aftermarket pads group the t1/T5 together with the Beyer st models... So if you really want non dekoni velour, I'm sure you can try some other pads from the dt1990 or 1770 for example, if you want them from Beyer.

Need a closed back for upcoming travel and ordered the T5p 3Gen(Easter Special) but I am slightly worried considering I never could get used to the T1.3 tuning. Do like both the T5p.2 and T1.2 but the T1.3 wasn’t dark, more like totally veiled and constricted. No clarity at all. Tried in all sorts of figurations etc.
So I dearly hope I just had a lemon and the T5p.3 is not like that at all.

TBH i think that the T5p.3 is quite bad headphone. The driver has great qualities but the tuning is awful. I now have focal radiance and there is no comparison. For me Beyerdynamic Xelentos are waaay better tuned and have more qualities even tho they are iems.

So I've just ordered a set of these T5.3's but have read that the stock cable is awful for microphonics from clothing etc. Is this really the case, should I just pull the trigger immediately with a different cable? Also, how do these T5.3's compare to Focal Clear Pro's?

Use it connected to my desktop with zero issues with microphonics with stock cable on my end.
