i already had this headphones in January
long before they were aavailable on the market
thanks to beyerdynamic in heilbron Germany :)

I had possibility to compare them to 101 IE and found new 160s lil bit warmer sounding

101 IE had tighter and faster bass
highs were laid back on 160s
and mids were more present on 101 IE

160s had great package with it and was truly superior to 101 ie
but for my taste 101 ie sounded "better"...they were completely different from each other

i found that with 160s beyer wanted to adress different part of customers
somebody who had 101 IE, cant just upgrade on 160s...not possible
it wouldnt be an upgrade at all...

I tried that time with Fiio E17 as DAC
24/96 Recordings

Curious, I find the 101's about as warm as I'd ever wish a phone to be.

I'm also interested if return shipping is paid for by Beyer.
