hi,
i am planning to buy dt880 in a week. i have tried 2005 edition and i liked it for classical music. i wonder that what do you think 600 ohm version performance better for classical? as i know mid freq. cleaner but i'm afraid about sound stage.

Soundstage is the same.
The DT880/600 is a great all-rounder but excels with any classical instrument (e.g. violins, pianos) tbh.

May I direct you to these two threads

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/bey...ps1000-454208/ - talking about the 600 ohm version vs. the Grado PS1000 (and some comparisons vs,. the HD650) . Compares it in classical mainly as well. A classically trained musician as well.

Indeed, the 600Ohm version is beyer's hidden gem line. Any of the 600Ohm phone beat their 250Ohm counterparts IMO.

600ohm Beyers are hidden gems? Funny, I had dt880/600 2005, still have dt990/600 2005, also 3x X-Deep Darths w/600 drivers, and just converting a pair of Terminators to 600ohm drivers.................I must've found their hiding places
