I guess it depends of your taste. I don't like loud. On a cheap FiiO M3 Pro I go with the volume to 15 only. And also on other players I never go to more than 25%.
It sound perfect for me like that.

My Liquid Platinum has tubes and lots of detail. My Asgard 3 sounds less resolving, probably due to the square wave shaping it uses.I used to drive my DT1900 with a Magnius, then switched to Valhalla 2 that was a great upgrade. Good to know that for solid state a Jotunheim is a good option. I like the tube sound a lot but read that you can get more details with good solid states.
It's all subjective man. If you thoroughly enjoyed the 1990 then just get them and be done with your chase. Thicker pads changes the dynamics a touch warmer if you ever get bored with them. (My DT 770 pro in photo) Yeah I know they're not 1990sHi there,
First of all, im pretty new to this forum so bear with me.
I just have a quick question and would love to get your thoughts here.
I recently picked up the DT1990, used from the Beyerdynamic shop for around 350. Saw some videos&posts that these were great for music and gaming and indeed they are, I love them but there is a problem in my brain.
Maybe there is a headphone for the same price or even less that sounds better than these and is also great for gaming and music? This thought is killing the joy I get from the 1990s, which is pretty sad, but that is how my fkked up brain works. This may sound very silly, I know that....
I was thinking about getting the Hifiman 400SE for music and some IEMs like the Simgot for gaming. Do you have any ideas as to which HP (or HP/IEM combo) I should definitely check out before buying the DT1990? I listen to a few genres like rock, metal, deep house but mostly rap/hip hop.
Thanks for your help and sorry for bothering anyone.

When you get new headphones, your brain needs to adjust to the new sound signature, and it can take a few days. Use the DT-1990 for a week, then go back to your old set, and then compare. Until then your brain will resist the new signature, it's just how the brain works in all of us.Hi there,

EQ filter: 8kHz, -5dB, Q2.8, ~ similar to solderdudes hardware filter https://diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/brands-a-i/dt-1990-pro/They all sound different. The dt1990 is pretty perfect in what it does, if you want something different other headphones will suit you better. You can try a few other headphone and if you're lucky you might find your perfect match. Or not.
dt1990 are easy to EQ, you can lower the treble a bit, eventually raise the bass a bit. Every headphone will sound better with EQ.
