Hi, I currently own a DV337 amp and am contemplating on getting one of these cans together with an AKG K701. However, there seems to be two models so I'm not sure which to get. Should I get the 600ohm version or the 250ohm version to pair with my Darkvoice 337? Help is much appreciated

Thanks.

The 600 ohm version is more expensive but is said to be smoother and just in general a bit better in most all respects than the 250ohm version. However because the impedance is much higher they are harder to drive, but I imagine your DV should do fine.

Tube amps PREFER higher impedance headphones. Combine that with the fact that the 600 ohm versions are better, if you can afford them, the 600 ohm are the way to go.

...though I should mention that I had both dt880, and dt990 - both at 600 ohms. The dt880's got sold, and I continue to pair the dt990/600/Velours with Corda Prehead. However, consonent with Skylab comment re tube amps/high ohms - my taste with modded (incl. BlkGold cabling) for AKG k340 is a tube amp. Alternatively, flip the switch on an OTL/NOS tubes amp - Grado RS-1 (flats), and Darths w/ 32ohm drivers are loverly. BTW - don't forget the Beyerdynamics Headzone Home amp..
