Does it really make any difference? Lots of DIY cables in the ultra-long sticky thread use canare F-12s, but the higher end cables seem to prefer switchcraft. The price is obviously not a factor, maybe the canare is more widely available? Thanks.

The Canare is much more solidly built than the switchcrafts and I like the Canare's more.

Are the black-bodied switchcraft made of metal or plastic?

I like the switchcraft better. It is easier to work with and has a lower profile.

the other plus to the canare is that the hole opening is bigger so that you can accommodate a bigger cable or thicker sleeving.

Thanks for all the input. I guess I'll buy both and see which one I like better...

For three years I have been using Switchcraft almost exclusively. They are built like a tank and will take abuse (heavy abuse). I like Canare F series as well but they can be too big sometimes. The rather modest size of Switchcraft is quite flexible.

And yes, Canare F series is also very-very tough to break.

It's a minus also. I'd not use anything thicker than ibuds cable when in comes to 1\8 jacks and plugs.

Think it's for those that like speaker gauge cables.

Canare's are nice and easier to work with, but only because they're HUGE. If you might have any problems with clearance on your amp, or you're building a small IC that would look ridiculous with such huge connectors, you might want to stick to switchcraft. I use mostly Neutrik myself - maybe not as solidly built, but only 1/3 the price and I don't plan on re-using them.
