Since you said the same thing happens with the BTR3 connected to the P20 my guess is that something about the EMUI is limiting the “bass boost” you are using.
In any case EQing the BTR3 directly from the fiio app would be a solution since you have direct control over all the frequencies and the EMUI cant do anything about that (since the changes are local in the BTR3 memory)

Tried it, but it doesnt really help. I dont have any local files, I only listen through spotify.
Also coming back to the Pocophone, connecting directly and plus bassboost its a nearly perfect sound.
Using the BTR3 with the Pocophone and the exact same settings: nearly half the bass.

This is sad. Might try the earsonic ES100, atleast that one got a global EQ thrhough the app

Yes, I used it as a pure DAP.

I do own a few ~$500 DAPs, but they weren't noticeably better than the Meizu.

I think this is the better way.
Most DAP has old OS and slow.

I got ibasso dc01 and now burn-in it for some time now. It has the tonal like fiio m11. Good detail and great instrument precision. The vocal is clear and not interfere with mid bass. Very good implementation.

The only drawback is it causes some.hiss with sensitive iem i.e. andromeda and fitear.

However for dynamic driver earbud, it has no problem. And has enough power to drive no more than 50% of volume scale.

I love dc01 combo with rose mojito.

Xplay6 and Nex S are fine. Depend on your budget.

But better get new phone for firmware support and better battery and better camera.
