Ultimately it looks like the S21 Ultra 512GB (so no need for micro sd) and FiiO BTR5. Good choice? Just that damn punch hole camera!
Been considering a BTR5 for a while now anyway, so why not. It's not available in the UK atm, so Ali Express it is I think. Unless someone has an alternative suggestion?

Battery life of the Xperia was just criticised in almost every review, and it had a 82 hour endurance rating on gsmarena, whereas my current S7 Edge had a 92 hour endurance rating! A 5 year old flagship should not be beating a 2021 flagship for battery life imo.

Amazon/Local sellers for BTR5 would be ideal IMO. You won't regret this combo. Also, there's a type c male to female connector for $6 on AliExpress. Get that so you can use BTR5 both wired as well as wireless.Ultimately it looks like the S21 Ultra 512GB (so no need for micro sd) and FiiO BTR5. Good choice? Do you have a link for that connector? Also, is the BTR5 better wired? Advancedmp3players have the BTR5 but it's not in stock. They are in my city, not sure if they actually have a physical store or not. Otherwise I can't find it in the UK online, I'll try ebay. Any reason why I shouldn't just purchase both the BTR5 with the type c male to female connector on AliExpress?

Consider Shanling UP5 as a similar alternative to BTR5. Should have better battery life.Ultimately it looks like the S21 Ultra 512GB (so no need for micro sd) and FiiO BTR5. Good choice? @Barusu Lamperouge AMP3 won't be getting any more stock of the BTR5 in, so my only other option is to buy one from AliExpress. Do you have a link to that type c male to female connector for $6? I'll go for that and the BTR5 on AliExpress.

Could anyone please confirm that S21 resamples everything not to 48 but to 192 when using USB DAC? It could be my last resort to stay on Android as iOS non-resampling audio stack is very tempting.

If you usb usb dac with right application and hires driver. It will output at the native sample rate.
The application that has concern is streaming app such as spotify and apple music.
Spotify can be native in neplayer.
Tidal can be native in uapp, hiby
Apple music still no support native for usb dac. But neplayer are trying to solve.

Would you guys recommend a DAC/AMP for the S21 Ultra or a dongle? I'm not fussed which I get, just whichever one is better. Ideally looking at either under £150. I just noticed FiiO have announced a new BTR5, so I may wait for that. Been recommended the Qudelix 5k over the BTR5.

E1DA 9038 is better than those (better than most, in fact). Good value too.

I know that for sure. The question was if recent Samsung phones like S21 Ultra have the same 48/24 resampling rate for any input stream in native streaming apps (NOT Neutron/Poweramp/UAPP etc) as the rest of the crowd or upscale everything to 192, at least for non-US Exynos version as briefly mentioned in several articles/posts over the internet. If you usb usb dac with right application and hires driver. It will output at the native sample rate.

In other words, I do hear clear difference between stock players on Android and iOS, latter being quite similar to bit perfect mode on UAPP@Android: would this difference be the same on Samsung or it will be less?
