On my Vivo nex "hi-fi" mode is enabled only for few apps. For e.g Neutron app never gets hi-fi mode enabled. I can trun on/off hi-fi mode for supported app, for e.g tidal. When turned on/off I do see the change though. Sorry for noob question, but is it not DAC in play as long as i am using 3.5 mm jack?

You need to download the free version of neutron app as well. Then the hifi button will appear. But you still can use the purchased version. The downloaded free version is just for dummy app to trigger neutron Hifi. Please see my first post. I have the tutorial for vivo xplay 6 which nex also is applicable.

thanks for your reply @artpiggo , will try that for neutron. But i do listen to other content like BBC radios, tune-in, Apple music all of them can not use hi-fi mode. I dont know how they work in LGg7/v30, I was hoping android automatically choose DAC capabilities.
I have been using Lenovo Vibe X3 and it's very good. But, the HiFi mode and Dolby Atmos (surround can be enabled as it widens the soundstage a little) cab be disabled for pure audio output (they color the sound a lot).
I used LG V20 and it did not sound good with third party apps when I owned, I don't know if it changed now.
I did side by side comparison of HTC 10 and Vibe X3, I preferred the tonality of X3 as it sounded better and louder to me.
thank you @artpiggo apple music apk worked like a charm. Apk editor pro does not let me change the package name, neither app clone. But i get the idea.
Thankyou! I just bought an x900. can you please tell me what version of android you are on and which version is best for audio (sorry for asking so many things). Also some links to the android update would be extremely helpful!
