I love when a song is redone in a different style.
Some of my faves:

1) _Minnie_the_Moocher_ in Hip-hop in _The_Mask_
2) _Kashmir_ (one of the best songs of all time!) "rappified" by P.Diddy with
Jimmy Page in the credits of some CG animated movie. And I'm not a rap
fan.
3) P Simon's _America_ by Yes.
4) The _Carol_of_the_Bells_ by TSO
5) _Fanfare_for_the_Commmon_Man_ by ELP. They do some other good ones, too.
6) _Hocus_Pocus_ by Gary Hoey (still rock, but good. And his quote from
_Stranglehold_ fits in well.)
7) _In_the_Hall_of_the_Mountain_King_ - Rick Wakeman (best version on
_Classic_Tracks_.) Triumph does a good one on _Stages_.
8) Jon Anderson's _State_of_Independence_ by Moodswings. Donna Summers' was
good, too.
9) _Toccata_and_Fugue_in_D_ by Sky.
10) Blake's poem _The_Tyger_ by Tangerine Dream
11) Longfellow's poem _The_Song_of_Hiawatha_ by Mike Oldfield.
12) _Funky_Town_ by Pseudo Echo
13) _Turn_the_Beat_Around_ by Miami Sound Machine

I just heard a Ska version of _Detroit_Rock_City_. I think it was Big Bad
Voodoo Daddy.

A Muzak(tm) (yes, the real Muzak(tm)) of _Whole_Lotta_Love_

#2 featured some of the greatest lines of all-time: "I want to fight you...I'll f-ing bite you" and "All my friends, all my foes, damn these ho's, steppin' on my toes". Awful song, but P-Diddy isn't capable of any better. The movie, btw, was the equally awful "Godzilla".

#4 I agree on. Awesome rendition. Love it.

I think it was used on the soundtrack to The Big Lebowski.

As for an interesting cover, check out Dolly Parton's version of "Stairway to Heaven." Yeah, really. And it's good. Dolly is terrific when she gets away from pop country and back to her acoustic, bluegrass roots.

The Gypsy Kings' version of Hotel California is on a great 2-CD set called Rubaiyat. It's Elekra's anniversary cover album I believe. Some other great covers on there too, like The Sugarcubes covering Motorcyle Mama, the 10,000 Maniacs covering These Days, Metallica covering, uh, i forget what, and so on.

I like both Minnie Riperton's (feat. Jose Feliciano) interpretation of The Door's "Light My Fire", as well as Al Green's cover. Interesting contrasts.

If that's the album I'm thinking of, then Metallica covered Queen's
_Stone_Cold_Crazy_, but it wasn't my cup'o'tea.

I also remember the Lemonhead's cover of a Paul Simon (and Garfunkel?) song.
Was it at the end of a _Waynes_World_ movie? It was very good.

This is one of the coolest things about covers... you never know who's gonna
do a great one... or who's gonna take a song you didn't like a make it into one
you do.

Nina Gordon's cover of NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" is pretty much the best cover I've heard in which the style is completely changed.

The Easy Star Allstars' dub-reggae interpretation of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album is an interesting take on things, although I did find it very repetitive after a while.
