yea, if i want to impress someone with my grados (just a lowly SR60

), i whip out the two albums by "ours." both distorted lullibies and precious are very forward-sounding albums and are great with the corresponding cans.

Excellent redbook recordings which are well suited to the HD600:

David Matthews, "Listener Supported,"

Zucherman's performance of Concerto No. 1 in G Minor for Violin by Max Bruch

NiN Things Falling Apart (lots of effects and voices)

B.B. King - Blues on the Bayou

Rage Against the Machine - Battle of Los Angeles (needs a "bump" in volume to sound right with 600s)

Guaneri Underground - Captive

Cheers,

I'd like to tack another to that list:

Beauty and the Beast

Both the original Broadway performance and Disney's variant are superlative. The latter is warmer, slightly less traditional, with a bit more energy.

Sample 'Prologue' from the Broadway archive for a taste of the main theme. Follow with Disney's 'Something There'. Quite nice.

Michael Jackson - Off The Wall - Special Edition

2001 Remaster.

Excellent, excellent , excellent. I loved the album back when I bought it in the early '80s and the remaster sounds better than ever.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

I do have better recorded stuff, but since everybody has heard these two albums many, many times, it's a good way to compare between headphones if you can't A/B two headphones.

I would definitely agree to anything Sasha. Airdrawndagger has many mechanical and organic textures that are great for judging headphones...

Uberzone's Digital Mix shows off the bass in cans, big-time! Try it with the DT-770's

Christy Baron's Steppin. Great Chesky recording. Has alot of different vocals and effects. Sounds great in regular redbook, or sacd.(mulitlayered). Nice modern interpetations of new jazz classics, I highly recommend it.
