Best portable radio?

Hello Musicfan,

I'm not "dissing" Durham! :) You may not be having any overload issues. In Austin we have 50,000W radio stations on a hilltop ridge overlooking the city. We are bombarded with these signals causing significant overloading on all but the mightiest of tuners.

It's been my experience that Sony portable radios are much more likely to overload than portable radios that utilize a balanced FM mixer in their circuitry (Sangean ATS-909, Tivoli PAL, Sangean DT-200, etc.)

Again this is only to describe RF qualities not audio qualities. Even in an urban area the Sony radios still sound good with strong stations.

Best regards,

Paul
