Looking for a set of cans to use with a 5G iPod, don't have an amp so need something that would run okay straight from an iPod.

Budget is pretty open.

Suggestions welcome.

Another vote for hd25-1. I'll be picking one up this month when I head back to visit my parents.

100% agree on the HD 25-1's, about 80% on the px 100's, but it dependes on your budget.

don't be fooled by the IEM crowd, go for the 25's.

Another vote for the HD-25. Isolation is good but not superb and comfort is not very high, though probably will improve with Sennheiser velour pads. All in all, a great phone for portable.

I guess it depends how portable is portable.

I bought some HD25SP's off a chain-smoking DJ who never bathes for $20, and aside from the smell they're really not bad 'phones at all. I have never heard the hd25-1, so, I cannot compare the two.

Anybody know how to get cigarette smoke out of pleather earpads?

DT231's also don't get enough recognition here. They're really pretty good, and worth the money, but i understand how one could feel funny about paying $60 for 'phones that look like something that came free with a portable CD player in 1989.

Another vote for the HD25-1's, I've had mine for a week and I've been absolutely in love with them.

With an open budget the HD25-1 is probably the best bet. I have to jump in with a recommendation for the AKG K81DJ which sound great and at less than 1/3 the price of the senns.
