I also have a C&C BOX+ portable headphone amp, the sound quality on the iAudio 7 is so good that the amp simply isn't needed.

I had a Cowon D2 before I got the iAudio 7 and there was always something not right with the SQ but the iAudio 7 has totally restored my faith in Cowon again.

Bottom line is if you are looking for a flash player then look no further than the iAudio 7 its simply stunning and for me to say that about a Mp3 player its got to be good.

Hey, that is good to hear. I lost my faith with the D2 also. And in the end the Iaudio G3 also dissappointed me. But the new A3 has every feature I want, but I am very unsure about it's sound. Could you tell me in which way the i7 is better than the D2. Thx!

i think your files play a bigger part in the sound quality department than the actual player

my little ipod shuffle with 320 kbps files and ibuds will sound a whole lot better than an imod hooked up to a nice portable amp and headphones

x2

there's another thread on here about which component is most important, but still, i'd have to say decent headphones + 128kbps > stock buds + 320 kbps

personally, i just can't get the detail from the 320kbps bit rate without decent 'phones.

I can only comment on the sound quality.

The D2 to my ears sounded so coloured and unnatural, using the EQ and effects made it almost impossible to listen to due to distortion.

The iAudio 7 sounds so silky and I cannot hear any distortion no matter what EQ settings I use, it sounds so much more life like than the horrible sounding Cowon D2.

When I first heard the iAudio 7 my jaw dropped to the floor due to its outstanding SQ and that has never happened to me before when listening to any DAP even with a headphone amp.

What with the incredible 60 hours playback time I have at last found my ideal DAP and believe me I have either owned or listened to many over the years.

Hmm thanx for all the replies.

The iAUDIO 7 sounds good to mee, is the navigation on the screen good?

Further, can somebody compare the iAUDIO 7 with the JVC XA-HD500?

Why not start off with some Koss KSC-75's? Very good headphones and only $10-15 from Amazon.com.

do you think, they are better than The Plug?

I can spend much more than 15 US Dollars. If they are worth the money, i can give round 100 US Dollars for them.

The Sony A808, 8Gb, the black one looks best IMO, so that's what I got.
Plays MP3, AAC, WMA, Atrac, best buildquality I ever saw in a DAP, very good SQ, powerful, detailed, dynamic, clean.

Well, thank you but i rather take the iAUDIO 7. I think they are simmilar but i am a bit afraid of the software in the SONY devices.

No disrespect to dura who said the Sony A808 is powerful but I had that player long before I got my iAudio 7 and it is in no way powerful.

The iAudio 7 blows the Sony A808 away in SQ and power.

Sony A808 16 Ohm earphone : 5mW + 5mW

iAudio 7 16 Ohm earphone : 26mW + 26mW

Enough said.

I am not sure what those number exactly mean. I know that D2 with high output still sound pretty bad.

iAudio 7 sounds great with a bunch of phones. The Mylar X3s are a good match. Grados sound good (both the igrado and 60), and def the KSC75. If it is a quality portable phone it will work good.

I will have to agree with the consensus here. The iaudio 7 has blown me away. I just got it today. I was looking for three things - flash, sq, and battery life. All there. I went with the 8gb and can put 24 or 25 albums (FLAC) on at one time which is enough for me.
