Hi all i am a sound maniac. I now i have the money and i search for the ultimate mp3 player.

My criteria:

1. SOUND QUALITY is the most important thing.
The device should have a good equalizer and the clearest sound (advice: i am a base guitar freak and i wanna hear the base...) .

2. BATTERY is the second important thing. I need at least 20 hours of music without charging.

3. CAPACITY is the third important thing. It should have at least 6 GB (more than 15 GB is a waste of storage place for me).

4. I have heard that i should take a mp3 with a hard drive and not a flash memory. Can somebody explain the difference and the plus/ minus?

Untill now i am thinking about the JVC XA-HD500 or the SONY NW-A1200

Thank you

Heh I was joking. Welcome to Head-Fi. Sorry bout your wallet.

If you are looking for DAP alone. Look for Kenwood HD series. They have been touted to be the ulitmate DAP for MP3 based player. zune will do nicely as well. Both are HDD based.

But if you are keen on Flash based. Go for Trekstor Vibez.

You may consider an Imod and a Iriver H1xx. The second one have a optical output and can be used with an external DAC improving sound quality a lot. It's rockbox capable and the battery can be replaced by the user. A 2200mha battery can be used instead of the 1350mha stock one ...

the trekstor vibez is NOT flash-based...it's a micro hd. I have the zune and I think it sounds fantastic, but if you think spending over $400 on a 30gb DAP is cool, then I would prolly go with the Kenwood HD series.

HD:
+cheaper per gb
-breaks easier
-physically larger

Flash:
+smaller
+relatively more durable to drops
-more expensive per gb

The best PCDPs still edge out DAPs slightly in my experience but lose out in practicality.

I own an IMOD simply because of how easy you can access your music and the sound is very good.

Enough said.

Agreed. I just got one and it is amazing. It fits your first 2 criteria to a T. Sound is great w/o an amp and the battery will last days. I am not sure who told you HD is better, flash is generally the way to go if you can afford it and you don't need like 80GBs which you say you don't.

I only got my iAudio 7 yesterday and I am so thrilled with the sound quality its simply stunning.

I also have a C&C BOX+ portable headphone amp, the sound quality on the iAudio 7 is so good that the amp simply isn't needed.

I had a Cowon D2 before I got the iAudio 7 and there was always something not right with the SQ but the iAudio 7 has totally restored my faith in Cowon again.

Bottom line is if you are looking for a flash player then look no further than the iAudio 7 its simply stunning and for me to say that about a Mp3 player its got to be good.

Yeah, I got it so I wouldn't have to carry an amp anymore. It sounds better than all my daps w/ amps except iMod. Its got some great sound EQ options. I am specifically getting some high end grados customized with a shorter cord so I can use them on the go with the 7. It is worthy of good phones.
