Enough said.

No that's not enough

I have IAudio U3 and A808 and my friend have a D2. Both U3 and D2 is said to be immensly more powerful than the sony. However directly comparing these three units, they feel approx the same (powerwise).

SQ wise I prefer the sony but everyone has their personal taste (which is always difficult to discuss...)

As I stated earlier on in the thread I had the Cowon D2 and never liked the SQ but trust me the iAudio 7 sounds fantastic.

I also have a Sony NW-A1200 and use the player with my portable headphone amp as it has a line-out, the headphone out on the sony doesn't come close to the iAudio 7.

If you can bear with clip style earphones, the best earphones under $100 IMO are the KOSS KSC 75 at $15! Otherwise, if you are sold on in ear or ear buds, any Shure, Etymotic, Ultimate Ear, Yuin, or Westone products in the $100 range will be excellent. Choosing between those will be completely up to personal preference as to sound and fit. That question would get more answers from a post in the headphone forum. (My vote goes for the ER-6i or UE-super.fi 5 pro)

I have the Sony A808 too and it is powerful, it shouldn't be, given the spec, but it still is. I haven't tried the iAudio 7 but may try it out of curiosity now since you said it blows the Sony away
