Best NES / SNES Games?

Secret of Evermore was one of the final games made for SNES. It's based off the Secret of Mana "engine," if you can even call something like that an engine, but it doesn't rely on two-player mode to be awesome. More advanced gameplay, an alchemic-based magic system for which you have to find and combine bizarre ingredients, fantastic but familiar settings, a really fun story with campy humor about old B-movies, and some of the greatest ambient sound SNES ever heard. Yes, it's an RPG, but it's an action-oriented RPG.

"Secret of Evermore's score differed greatly from all previous Squaresoft games by incorporating organic environmental sounds like wind blowing and rain falling into the music utilizing a more mellow tune for an orchestral score that contrasted completely the epic scores of Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy VI."

For NES, Werewolf: The Last Warrior was one of the hardest games I've ever played for any console. I don't even remember it being fun, it was just brutal.
