are there any IEM's out there that are similar sounding to the Grado sound? I listen pretty much only to rock, metal, ambient, and some hip hop. What would be the best IEM around 100 bucks which fits my needs? Currently I have an sr125i modded and am looking for something similar sounding. Thanks. I also have a portable amp. Right now I am looking at the head direct but not sure that that is a "fun" enough headphone for my tastes.

I'm not familiar with grados but the Panasonic hje900's are great for metal. They have the best distortion rock guitar crunch of any IEM I've heard. While being a dynamic driver they are still very fast. The problem is you can't get them in the States anymore and it's driven the price up from $79 new to around $200. Look for some used on the for sale forum. You should be able to find them for around $100.

This question has been answered a gazillion times before. If you search for "metal" in the engine you'll get numerous of these same topics. That's probably why not many people are answering your thread.

You could always ask in the dedicated metal thread here at Head-Fi.

I've been here a while sir I know how to utilize the search bar. All the results seem old and dated.

I would look for something that meets your preferred sound signature. While I love the CK10 & ER-4S for metal/rock and pretty much any genre for that matter some might hate them because they think they don’t have enough bass.
