Best heaphones for live

I don't know how to really answer this. Live recordings of jazz, classical, metal? The answers will be different. You should probably be chasing down phones for a certain genere first.

For different genres.

I'm not going to buy new headphones at the moment. Was listening to live recordings and believe they can be way better then studio albums. What would you be looking for in your perfect live headphone and which one would it be?

By way better do u mean more neutral? more original? ...in that case try AKG240 ?

although their sound can get boring because Natural sound can be boring for some.

I just wants to know which headphones YOUprefer for live music and why

Thought it would be interesting to know what other people wants in live recordings and maybe I'll appreciate those details more

I prefer my Beyer DT990's for live recordings. They seem to have a better sound stage and a more natural sound, almost as if I'm actually at the show.

AKG K1000 using with TrendsAudio T10.1 amp playing Deep Purple's legendery performance recorded on February 27, 1976 in Long Beach, California.

It depends on the genre, but I like the AKG K-501 and K-1000, the Sennheiser HD-600 and the Beyerdynamic DT-48.

For me, however, the ultimate "live" experience is with planar speakers. I run a pair of ribbons in my system that are uncannilly real. I've heard the same effect with electrostats and Magnepans, too.

well, maybe not the sr-007s, but stax set-ups sound incredible with live music. my sr-404 and srm-007t (roughly $1500 -- amp was used) generate a monsterous, open soundstage.
