Why don't you give us an Indian website or two that you might buy from so we can get an idea of what is available there within your budget. I see it is now 60.44 Indian rupees to the US dollar, so $30US is around 1813 Rupees.

+1 for monoprice. I own them and they will not disappoint. Especially for the price. They are a little over 20.00 on the Monoprice website.

I see your dilemma. Within your price range I didn't see any headphones there that look interesting, but did see a few interesting earphones.

The first that came to mind as being a great value is the Soundmagic ES18. It has excellent reviews and is on my to buy list. it is an IEM, so it isolates outside noise. It is around $12 in the US and a bit less for you at RS. 640.

The Panasonic RP-HS33E-G earphone with ear hooks doesn't isolate. It is large though so it won't fit well if you have small ears. It doesn't isolate. it has great treble, but I boost the bass on my player by around 8db when I use it as it is bass deficient. It is good for when you are active and need to hear your surroundings. At rs 699 it is also a bit cheaper than it sells for in the US.

The Sony EX220 at Rs1140 looks very interesting. I have the EX210 and it seems like they are very similar. The EX210 has plenty of deep bass due to it large 13.5 mm drivers. It isolates decently, and has good sound overall, but needs plenty of burn in.

The Sennheiser MX580 may be a bit over your budget, however it has great sound quality. The volume control on the cord is annoying though. This is traditional earbuds, so they don't isolate.  They might fall out of your ears easily when you are very active. The MX580 might be the best sounding of the earphones I mentioned, although I haven't heard the Soundmagic ES18 yet.

I've heard good things about the xb400 which I see on that website.

They aren't truly audiophile quality but for casual listening they're fun and comfortable and I feel you would like them a lot especially considering your music :)

I didn't see the JVC flats on the website he listed. Besides which, the JVC HAS400 is so much better than the HAS160 flats. I didn't see the HAS400 listed on the website he gave. In the US the HAS400 is under $25. I wonder how much it would cost in India. The HAS400 sounds so great. I am still amazed that it sells for under $25 here. It sounds better than a number of headphones that are over $100.
