My friend's having some issues with his iBuds, they aren't loud enough for him, so I advised he purchase some entry level earphones. His budget is 60 bucks, but he's spent around 120 bucks on headphones that have either broken or didn't work, so he'd prefer to save money. He listens to a wide variety of music, but told me that he appreciated some substantial bass, midway between flat and extra bass. Could you advise a pair at the price points of 20, 40, and 60 dollars so he has multiple options for sound quality? Thanks.

one of the first earphones i bought was JVC marshmallows for less than 20 bucks in Canada.
I was very satisfied with the sound quality for it being such cheap pair.
I bought skullcandies later on for about 30 something dollars but JVC had better overall sound hands down.
Skullcandies, at least to me, has such overpowering bass that mids and highs are severely crippled.

I've seen the FX34 (marshmellows) for under 10USD

for that price I don't think you can go wrong. Make sure to get some actual tips though, I have the Sony tips on mine and they are pretty great.
