Best Drummers: Rock

There's not enough Phil Collins in this thread. His work on early Genesis albums was outstanding and his drumming in Brand X was out of this world.

But shortly after that he became a pop star...

All I can say is as a drummer myself, the cats that had the most lasting impact on my drumming style have been:

~ John Bonham
~ Bill Bruford
~ Santana's percussion section, when it consisted of Armando Peraza, Raul Rekow, and Orestes Vilato.

There are lots of others I have respect for and like to hear and watch, but those are the ones that I gravitated to the most.

Keith Moon and John Stanier are my favorites.

Bozzio and Peart are probably the best I've heard.

Rock drummers, I always kind of liked Matt Sorum, with The Cult and GNR and Velvet Rev. On a slightly related note, I thought Mickey Curry w/Bryan Adams, and oddly enough, The Cult (for a time) was really good. I've always appreciated Sting's studio and live drummers. Also I love the simplicity of someone like Bill Berry, as well as someone as bombastic as Dave Grohl. So many good drummers out there...
