I’ve tried two dca headphones, the ether cx and aeon closed. Very polite and neutral. Currently I’m looking for MY pair of closed backs; something equally adept at music, gaming, and movies. So far nothing is checking ALL the boxes, and I’m not able to shell out for a verite or 2k focal. I’ve also tried both ebony and mahogany X00. The X00 fall behind the emu teak IMHO.

Currently deciding between a Sony z7m2 and a emu teak. The teaks are more enjoyable musically, and definitely approach bass head levels of controlled low end, but they lack isolation. The z7m2 are comfortable, and have a great high end for classical, and isolate better than the teaks. Right now I’m having trouble deciding which one to let go.

I’ve yet to try elegia, lcd2 closed, and I’m open to other suggestions!

Focal Stellia is the best closed back headphones I ever had. Compared to the Mobius it's sound signature is more neutral and "grown up".
Recently aquired a beyerdynamic MMX-300 that replaced the mobius. It's based of the DT770 and while it remains a beyerdynamic it's also the biggest surprise for me, since it made me sell my Stellia.

Are you saying you like the MMX-300 better than the Stellia? Did I read this right?

No but it made me think about value, price and replaceability.
Stella's pads cost more than the whole mmx300 for example.

Ah ok. I bought the MMX-300 2nd edition and I was very disappointed with it as a headset. It's sitting in its case in a cabinet. I'd like to get rid of it... I was think about trying a pair of DT-1770s but I would really like to get the ZMF Eikons. Can't swing it right now.

They sucked hard on my Linux box. I'll try them on a Windows box and see if they're any better.

Overall, this is a good list of choices...with one exception. The Mobius??? How does it belong on a ”best of” closed headphones list? The case can only be made if you add it as an affordable “value” option.

But, if the list is to include best “bang for buck” options instead of being a true best of the best list, then the Focal Elegia needs to be added. Both the Elegia and the LCD 2 Closed arguably already belong on any best of the best closed back list that extends down far enough to include the DCA Aeon 2 Closed. The Elegia can now be bought brand new from many authorized dealers for $699, and sometimes for less. That would seem to make it the best value in closed back headphones currently available.

The ATH-AWKT would be my pick. They are a very transparent pair headphones that dont hype up anything the song doesnt hype up and has the detail to make it a very enjoyable and relexing listen. Doesnt suffer from the cave hard wall soundstage that so many closed backs suffer from which is a plus to me.

Of the list the focal stellia would be my pick or the mdr-z1r. The stellia because it has very similar characteristics to what I like and the Z1R for that bassline.

agree 1,000%. I recently acquired the Stellia and also own the Z1R; the Stellia is definitely my closed back choice but the Z1R Is worth keeping for that bassline!

How is the sound leakage on this particular model?
