another vote for the dt770pro. works great straight out of a computer, is closed and works great for electronic music and movies (if you like bass).
can be found for 150$ on ebay

I already did, the JVC M1000. The only importer is Audiocubes. It will crush everything else mentioned in this thread if there is no amp involved, and it falls well inside your price range.
