Best Cans for under $100?

Grado SR-60 or SR-80? How about Alessandro MS-1? SR-80 and MS-1 are hitting your upper limit but if you like rock you'll love SR-80. I've read MS-1 is similar quality but a little more relaxed.

Based on a recent admittedly sloppy blind test I ran, Denon D1001's bass gets more refined after burn-in. The bass is great for under $100, I'd say. Great headphones. Still miss them, despite having D2000 now. I like them a heckuva lot more than my MS-1, anyway.

It may be more refined after burn-in but it gets controlled after stuffing the cups.

I don't know how people can hear that bass and think it's at all good.

Seriously, having heard the stock sound of the D1001/CAL! is making me call more HFer impressions into question than even hearing the ATH-A900 did.

looking at prices for the es7 on google products returned a range of like $20 to like $150.

looks like scam?
ath-es7 bk audio technica closed back portable headphone mlmd038 ath-es7 bk audio technica closed back portable headphone mlmd038 (start from 30 units) Headphones MP3 and Media Player [#00005900] - $20.78 : um9shop!, Sale watches,Fashion Jewelry,Wome

i guess i prefer circumaural and closed cans. my main reason for switching is because it gets quite loud at the dorm i live in and sometimes i just want some quiet time for myself.

I want to see someone do a review comparing all the best cans for under $100 at the moment.
This would be:
D1001
AD700
RX700 and RX900
DT770/80 (Can be had on ebay for just over $100 refurbished)
maybe M-Audio Q40.

The DT770s are not in this price range. But the ATM-50 is, $99 on ebay.

i'm amazed that the fostex T50rp just fell at the wayside here, it's a better headphone than people imagine. must be the price, they should raise it up to the manufactures list of 199. at 74 it MUST be horrible. just kidding, one of the best sounding questionable looking (like headphones look good?) even so, the copper isn't all that bad.

no mention of the equation rp-21 either.

I don't have time for a full review at the moment, but I've owned all of these (except Q40) at the same time and did many comparisons between them.

I can honestly say that the RX700 is easily the winner.
