Best audiophile metal and rock albums

Vinyl may have higher dynamics, but I 'm not able to get used to the clicks and pops... A high DR isn't everything, DR12 can sound better than DR14...

The HDTracks versions sound more detailed than the CD versions (first pressings or DCC).
The 24/96 and 24/192 is unnecessary as always...

Vinyl doesn't always have clicks and pops (hardly any of mine does) and admittedly DR12 is the sweet spot for rock.

Just listened to Obscura's album 'Omnivium'. There literally wasn't a moment where the bass was inaudible :p Matter of fact the entire thing was done quite well imho. I may go as far to say most if not all there stuff in mixed well.

For the sake of arguement I just dug up my CD.  CDP 79 19352, Capitol Records ‎– CDEST 2132. That's the UK 1990 release.
I'm playing Hangar 18 on my HE6's. The HE6 now sounds like my AKG 702. Threre is a severe roll off before 200Hz.
That reminds me I must get the vinyl version.

Try listening to the remastered.. Dave dubbed the vocal, guitar work, etc. Pretty much ruined the whole album.

Original vinyl must be pretty awesome!

Hello all!

I'm new here.
Recently upgraded from a good system to an amazing system and was searching for some great recordings in this genre.
Some great recommendations.
Here are some recommendations of my own.

Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake is an amazingly well produced album.
Worth a listen for sure especially laid to rest and remorse is for the dead.

Morbid Angel - Gateways to Annihilation. It  has a great sound! Check out the song Opening Of The Gates. There is a great Bass pulse at the start and pete sweet feet probably does the fastest double bass ever!

Opeth certainly have some great recordings.

NIN are on the list too.

I almost forgot about Tesseract!
Amazing production on both albums but One is an absolute masterpiece!

Let me know what you guys think.

More to come.

Oh yes. Definitly Between the Buried and Me - Colors. Also, the band theirself said that their newish album (1 year old whatever) Parallax II: The Future Sequence was their best production wise. I agree!
