While upon it’s release the style was so different than anything Judas Priest had ever done....fans were left bewildered and let down. Though many understood the musical goals and could appreciate the masterpiece Nostradamus is. Seemingly endless layers of elements and ideas, this album while staying as a forgotten memory for many fans..........ends a treasure to the audiophile with equipment to take it apart.
I was too...back then. And almost 12 years after... I decided to give it a try again. And I have found it was one of the best albums that Judas Priest ever made. Maybe this album was ahead of its time in some way. Now I love it...
Well, I’m surprised it does have a small fan base. I know I was speaking with a fellow metal head (at the time of it’s release) and he bestowed his opinion about the album; it being beyond his comprehension. The vast majority of Priest fans wanted something more rocking. Many just didn’t get it?
But I have the vinyl, the UK import CD and the US pressing of the CD. I have always liked what they did, except maybe “Turbo”? But also find Nostradamus to be very very special! I can listen to it all the time and never get bored with what it contains.

The album showcases a musical branching out I think. A dimension which contains a new and different, deeper Priest? It’s not Firepower or anything that came before or after it! Redeemer Of Souls/Firepower is the reaction to Nostradamus, I think?
Leaning largely on my classic rock, ummm … “art rock” … and jam band taste in popular music (in addition to certain strains of jazz and classical), here are some I’ve curated nice sounding hi-res (96/24 or 192/24) versions of via Qobuz into Volumio lately:
Nine inch nails - The fragile
Death - Symbolic
Fear factory - Obsolete
Marilyn Manson - The golden age of grotesque
Nine inch nails - Still
Rammstein - Mutter
Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects - Sol niger within
Queensryche - Promised land
few albums i regularly listen too, specially because they sound so good ("clean") compared to other stuff
most of them are kinda mixed "hot" so it depends on how you define audiophile and nearly everything should be some kind of metal
- KMFDM - Paradise && Blitz
- 10 Years - Violent Allies
- Nonpoint - X
- Rob Zombie - The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy && Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor
- Delain - Apocalypse & Chill
- Emil Bulls - Kill Your Demons
- Parkway Drive - Ire && Reverence
- Motionless In White - Disguise
- Cinder - You && The Machine
Fun thread that has appeared again, I almost only listen to albums and not playlists.
Can always say that I love Opeth and Tool and such, but I'm going to mention some albums that's more rare to some. Sit back and enjoy
Swallow The Sun - Songs From the North I, II & III
