Wolfson dacs are that good? I loved my ipod classic (30gb) wich if i recall had a wolfson dac.... I used to love it till it died.... Last year i bought a used classic, similar to the one i has and i did not like the sound that much... Thought it was a bit too warm. Maybe i got used to my 4th gen ipod touch....
Returning to cellphones.... The xperia z is bad for music? How about the nexus 5 and the moto g?
The thing about Wolfson on Samsung/Exynos is it is easily hackable to access hardware controls. And there is a whole lot more clean power available than you will get on most of the Qualcomm SOC phones.

Wolfson is known for its fluid and smooth sound which is I think the best sound for mobile phones. After all, you're probably not going to be using Beyerdynamic T1 and doing critical listening and searching for detail.
I'm bumping this since I was thinking of getting a new music phone for Christmas. So, what's the best one IYO under 250$ new?
Apparently the new Galaxy SIII doesn't have the Wolfson DACs anymore? How are the Sony Xperias? I'd love to hear comments from people who have used several different ones.
