I know about the hdvd 800 amp from senheiser but don't know where to buy? I also don't know what a dac is... I heard the ray Samuels b52 was good. So any suggestions? Hmmmmm how does the shiit Mjolnir do with the hd800s?

I don't think the HDVD800 is available to the public yet.  a DAC is a digital to analog converter, if you do a quick search for "what is a DAC" on google you should get plenty of good hits.  The B52 is an amp.  It is one of the more expensive ones.

Here's some threads on amps for the HD800:

Where are you located?  There may be meets near your location where you can try some of the associated gear.

Ok so the things that are in my budget (1200) that I think would be best is the DNA sonnet, woo audio 2,and possibly the asus xonar essence one or the shiit mjornir. Still need some feedback on the shiit and the asus.

It was too bright for me but otherwise it sounded good (Bryston BHA-1).

Shame about the budget as my pick would be the Cavalli Liquid Glass. Just...fantastic.

The Lehmann rhinelander is a moderately "cheap" amp that according to my knowledge was designed specifically for the HD800's there's also the more expensive model Black Cube Linear. To me the BCL hardly gives a much greater sound improvement compared to the price.

If you have a good dac or a sound card that you can plug in to the Rhinelander, you will get great sound quality that will certainly not dissapoint.

If you are on a budget just get a Schiit Vali 2 and save for a custom tube amp. Right now the most respected builders of tube amps that match the HD800S are Eddie Current, Donald North Audio, 2359glenn | studio here on the forum (no website) and ampsandsound.

The problem you are going to have to deal with is delivery time. Most of the builders on the list will take at least three months to build your amp. Ampsandsound deliver faster only took a month for Justin to build my Kenzie.
