The Schiit Lyr would be a great amp for it.  It seems to be consistently hailed as having awesome synergy with the LCD-2s.  If you want a cheap(ish, compared to your budget) source, the Nuforce Icon HDP is highly rated.

Good point.  The Nuforce can also be used as purely a DAC.  It has analog out,  and analog/usb/coax/optical in.   All you have to do is use a pair of RCA analog outs to the Lyr, and you'll be gold.

What I found helpful was narrowing down the list of amps recommended, then doing individual searches on each one within the thread..
