I usually like to look at peoples choice of headphones they wear on the streets or bus. When i see someone wearing beats, well lets just say i'm not impressed then. The contrary is the case considering there is a rich variety of Hp available.
But yeah interesting article.

I read this before. It's crazy how Beats are still selling loads to this day, even after other companies did better at consumer friendly headphones.

Well it surely has its market audience, and it's hard to take that away despite whatever negative press beats may have received.  I still think that beats is good in the sense that it made many more people aware of audio in general.

It's by far the easiest sonic characteristic to distinguish.  Instant gratification, if you will.

I should've known. I can tell the different volumes of bass on my 5 pair of headphones, but I can only tell the amount of detail with 3 pairs. I tried the Beats by Dre Solo HD when I use to just care about bass, and they even sounded horrible to me. But it's great that the Beats hype has been toned down.

Haha yes. But the ATH-M50x craze is still here. I don't like the sonic signature of the M50x. Too much emphasized treble and weird dips and humps I was able to hear in the bass.

It still sounds better than the M70, which I really do not get.  M70x sounds like an M50 with the bottom end abruptly cut off.

Well, the M70 is a more neutral headphone and doesn't have much colouration than the M50x as I've seen on frequency graphs. I think the MSR7 is the best Audio Technica has made.

MSR7 takes the cake by a mile for AT's closed refresh.  M70 is meh.  R70X is really nice.

I believe I saw that this teardown was actually done on a fake pair of beats.
 
And I have a pair of Solo 2s.  I paid $80 for them and I think they're pretty good for $80.

Fashion headphones are what they are. Can't expect too much out of them.
