One of the best responses I have ever received in any forums.

Oh come on, you're making me blush.

But seriously, all power to you. They look cool, sound okay, and can lead you further into audio. Who knows, maybe you'll be sporting an AKG K1000 or Stax SR009 in a few years (providing you win the lottery or something)

Okay here is another question. Theoretically if somehow these were fake, if they broke and I sent them into Monster, would they replace them because I heard they don't even check the product and just want to keep the customer happy. Its just a theoretical question, I believe these are real anyways.

I think they'd check it to some standards, but if it was a good fake they wouldn't notice. However, even if yours turns out to be fake I wouldn't part with it. There are tales of fakes sounding better than the real thing. I must retire to sleep now; I've spent at least half my week on Head-Fi.

Sincerely,

Send it to Monster themselves to confirm it's genuine.

Don't sweat all the bashing over getting Beats. Even I thought they sounded nice at one point (save soundstage).

Uh oh. *hops in giant mecha* Try me now.

I felt exactly the same way as you when I tried on my friend's Solos. At the beginning I thought that it sounded nice, but then I realized that it felt like listening to speakers in a closet.

The question is whether they would send it back if it was a fake. Companies like Sennheiser pursue counterfeits with a zeal like no other, and it'd be terrible if they told you that they sent your Beats to be destroyed because it didn't pass their certification test. At least if they give it back you could sell it to an unsuspecting victim

No you're being perfectly reasonable. These days companies will do anything to wring a few extra bucks from their customers.

You could email or call Monster Customer Service or look at their support FAQ if they have one.

Chances are you won't get them back, though. Apart from destroying them, Monster could have them taken apart and analyzed so that they could develop harder to copy genuine parts. Microsoft is doing that with counterfeit software to further enhance their Windows Genuine Advantage capabilities.

I was actually thinking about getting the Audio T. M50's but I just really wanted some bass for the rap/dubstep I listen to. I have noticed that Kanye West, Dr. Dre, things like that sound GREAT to me,they also sound good in my opinion for songs by people like John Mayer, but I think they really shine in bass heavy music.

Well, the studios honestly sound terrible with good dubstep that has deep bass. They practically have no sub bass to speak of and that's where a lot of the heavy dubstep get their bass. They have all this mid bass and it's really boomy with not much control to speak of. The M50s will show you that if you get a chance to listen to them with some dubstep that has deep bass. You'll probably be wondering where a lot of the new detail and aspects of the bass came from when in reality, it was there, you just couldn't hear it.

Frequency response charts definitely don't tell the whole story but you can see that the studios just kinda fail in that region. Even the lowly super bass light K701 has way better extension. Now there are definitely better alternatives to the M50's if you want good powerful bass with detail and extension but they just go to show you that the studios are flawed in that region.

Oh and as far as music that they excel with? Well, probably more low production hip hop and rap. Things that are a lot more simplistic and focus on a beat line and don't introduce too many different aspects to the song. Like some Lupe Fiasco tracks I would be unhappy with because he uses a lot of jazzy, rhythmic, and rock esque samples in his tracks. Some Kanye would be good. Flashing Lights sounded pretty awesome from what I remember. Lil Wayne, maybe Drake, and some others. Just know the less acoustic, the better usually.

Oh, older hiphop and rap probably sounds good too. Like biggy, some tupac, old snoop, etc.

From what you say I believe what you mean is that it doesn't work very well with layered music - perhaps because it has a cramped soundstage and positioning isn't good enough to compensate.

I would think that with fake Beats that are made well enough, they wouldn't be able to tell. Rumor has it that you can not tell any differences from the headphones themselves, its all in adapters, etc
