Some will call BS, maybe even say that you're crazy, but I share the love. I have two sets, one that has been modded for balanced use. You hit them with the right chain, and they can really deliver.
Yeah I am very tempted to mod these for balanced use, and also tempted to travel 10 hours (total trip time) to go and get the last pair of Gen II pair in the country, for out door use.
Then just get a pair of Focal Elegia and I'm done!
🤣😅

Oh, when we got back from our little road trip to get the Gen I yesterday, I gave them to my wife to try out (she has only used Sony 910n headphones and airpods gen 2).

She put on her favourite music and I went to go and cook dinner, when I came back in, she was sat there with her eyes closed, big smile and tears running down her face.

She said it was the best sounding headphones she ever heard 😁

I prefer the Gen 1’s as well. They do take some juice but sound so good! I bought a back up pair when the gen 2 was released just in case. I have not yet heard the Gen 2’s though. I was never really interested when I heard of the mid bass hump which made it a more mainstream sound I guess.

Not quite mainstream sound like sony etc, but a little warmer than gen I and a little less resolution.
But still epic by consumer oriented headphone standards.

Hello,

Anyone experiment ZMF or Dekoni replacement pads using the plastic ring from an old pair of B&O original pads?
If any of these are good replacements for the original ones it probably would be better quality than the ones from Geekria or Ali.
Any recommendation?

Or do like me and put thick pads over the old ones :smile_phones:

What pads did you use, and how did it change the sound?

If you are going to use the plastic rings, make sure you seal the pads well on them, otherwise you will lose bass and generate a lot of distortion in the low end.

I can only imagine what that must have done to the sound.
Basically more bass, not boomy but punch and deep.

As i said above, i'm trying to adapt the sony mdr-xb500 pads to them because i found that they seal it properly.

The original rings completely peeled off

Now i'm thinking of a way to put everything together without having to glue and leave it like this:
