The first week of December, I decided to upgrade my HD580's by purchasing a HD650 cable and HD600 grills. Yesterday, the cable arrived, but no grills. I called Sennheiser and Dan Kelly (extension 176) said my order had been cancelled and he would check into it and call me back. Today I came home to Dan's message which stated there are no more HD600 grills. Zero. Zip. Nada. I tried calling but got his voicemail. I left a message asking if the HD650 grills were backwards compatible to the HD580& HD600 phones. If/when I hear back I will post the results. If the grills are compatible, I'll include a part number.

I just got off the phone with Sennheiser. The good news is HD650 grills are backwards compatible to the HD600 and the HD580. The bad news is HD650 grills are $36.76 EACH!! Seems funny they still have HD580 grills and HD650 grills, but are out of the HD600 grills "forever".......

That's odd. I have the 600 grills on my 580 and they fit the same way as they would on the HD600. Why would you want them to go on backwards?

The more interesting assumption that might be made from this is that Senn isn't planning on making many more HD600s if they've exhausted their supply of parts, right? To me this sounds like the 650 becoming second in line sooner, rather than later

All of the grilles fit all of the headphones. I've tried them all.

Also, I bought HD650 grilles a while ago and they were about $6 each, so Sennheiser really jacked up those prices! Nate seems to have a point...

If you check the oregon meet impressions Seeberg was having problems ordering the grills too. It seems he got them though

I sure hope I get them, cause the person I talked to said they wouldn't have them in stock for a week, from the time that quote was made. That would really suck if I don't get them, or worse, if I get charged for them and nothing arrives... Damnit, I want my metal grilles! Then I want to audition cables! Damnit!
