I've just heard from another engineer here that he installed IE6.5 and now his computer is running ridiculously slow. (He used to be able to freely rotate CAD files in real time but now it takes ~3 seconds per redraw.) Also, it CAN NOT be uninstalled--not even through the registry. Supposedly that's some kind of new security deal they have (in light of all the recent patches.) I'm not saying your computer will get screwed too, but not being able to uninstall is ridiculous.

well, on further inspection, I guess this is the deal with 6.x in general and has been known for awhile. He was still running 5.5. Sorry to bring up bad memories.

Go Team Mozilla/Safari! <--- loves his Mac and uses his PC for playing BF1942 and surfing Usenet (even though said PC has dual LCD monitors).

I'm running WinXP so there's no choice but to run 6.0?

I Don't know about IE6.5 as i'm running 6.0 here.

I do know that the XP Service packs and auto updates really play havoc with my system. I just lost part of my fat table on D: and a boatload of MP3 files due to a recent (unsolicited upgrade).

I actually have my auto updates turned off yet Microsoft still find a way of updating my system. Gits!
