Because it's a a fully balanced design except for the volume knob? So all the parts are already there? And having a balanced connection that's ultimately not balanced because of one of the cheaper parts in it is a shame?
They obviously have designed the amplifier in a way that does not need a balanced volume pot. It sounds different in the two operation modes and it is unique because it uses the four amplifier modules differently between the two operation modes.

It is a super great amplifier and I honestly think the whole fully balanced nonsense is making every amplifier more expensive than it has to. But it is the way it is and now everybody is making amplifiers that is running at half steam if you don't use the balanced connections.

I like buying Amps and some of the older good ones. The Auralic Taurus Mk II is one I am considering, used $400-$500 range. I am unsure how it sounds it does seem like it fits my style but wonder if maybe it's a downgrade from my current amps of Violectric V22, Bryston BHA-1 and SPL Phonitor 2. No offense to owners Auralic Taurus Mk II it's a beauty of a amp I am on the fence about buying.

Are you selling your current amps?

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried changing the OpAmps on the Taurus MK2?

Unfortunately one of the heatsinks on top of the OpAmps came loose while moving. Everything is still functioning as it should after I gave the internals a good clean up with non conductive liquid spray and I put the heatsink with OpAmps back albeit with the broken plastic cover but then I started wondering if I can upgrade to Burson or Sparkos OpAmps.

Also, there are two heatsinks as shown in the picture and am I right in assuming that the second heat sink also has OpAmps underneath?
