Do you guys recommend using ASIO or WASAPI with the Aune X1S ? I'm currently using DS in foobar but I'm afraid I'm missing something :)

Yes you should use Wasapi mode (event style) for good results, and asio mode (via the foobar component foo_dsd_asio) if you also need to play dsd (.dff or .dsf files).
Otherwise with directsound, everything is resampled to the windows sound control panel settings (and with quite a poor quality).
Directsound is meant for allowing multiple apps to play sounds as events, not for music playback (at least not if you are looking for good audio quality).

I'm trying to find the specs for this unit. Brooko's review is very detailed but I can not find the specs anywhere on the site. The english site claims it's 80mv at 300ohm but the simplified Chinese claims 200mv at 300ohm. Brooko's review is so far the only one with specs but where did they come from and are they accurate?

Mine should be accurate.  I took them from the box and also from direct contact with Aune.

Actually it should be mW instead of mV.  I'll check again when I get home tonight - pretty sure I also have the email from Aune.  Maybe they have given me the wrong measurements?  I still ahve the packlaging and documentations - so I can check.

Found the PM from the Aune Rep on Head-Fi

  • Can you tell me the power output specifications under various loads (preferably 16, 32 and 300 ohms)?

it is     16ohm/1550MW
        32ohm/1200MW
       50ohm/1000MW
       300ohm/200MW

But I checked the manual and it only states 80 mW into 300 ohms

Personally I think 200 is closer to the mark as volume wise it wasn't too far away from the output of my NFB-12.

What headphones are you driving?
