Check this out how I listen from Aune S17 Pro as long I need without exceeding 59-60 Celsius degrees on 100mA & high gain mode with HiFiMAN HE-6 :
AuneS17Pro5.jpg

It's paired with Gustard A20h as DAC (2x AKM 4497EQ) + Gustard U18 DDC. After some weeks of use I do not imagine better amp

Could you please link feet and fan?
6cm aluminium/plastic feets with regulation cost ~ 6 USD purchased at local furniture parts shop ... for set of 4 pcs
fan ? AAB SuperSilent 14cm (cost of ~ 11 USD) with connected to 12V cheap chinese power adapter + on/off button marked with red arrow on photo + zalman fanmate2 voltage regulator to give 7V at this moment but when hot summer will come I have performance reserve to give more airflow. Additional parts I had already at my home

You know why did I choose blue fan ? Simple answer : I didn't hear if it works or not when I had first cooling solution based on standard black plastic 12cm fan :)

I’m sorry, but I disagree: this is not that case! Sure, every class A amp generates heat, but that doesn’t compromise its main purpose which is class A amplifier.
This is an amp that is supposed to let you choose between class A and class AB, but not based on your will. You just have to wish to be one of the lucky ppl who don’t exceed 55º C and they can listen to it however they want, otherwise you buy a class A amp which is class A only for 30 mins then 5 hrs AB before getting back to class A. That 69º C should be what is supposed to be: A SAFETY SWITCH! It is not supposed to be normal the way it works.

I’m about to pull the triggee on this amp once I come back from holidays, cause soundwise I’ve heard wonder from anyone all over the web, but my hope is just to be on of those lucky ppl who don’t have a defective batch unit. That’s it!

Class A amp like Audio-GD generates a lot of heat, but they don’t switch off suddenly or switch to another class circuit in order to prevent “melting”.
Master 19 from Audio-GD is 880 usd brand new: we’re not comparing another league amplifier.

So, you don't like the heat and you don't like this amp design but you still going to get one? After that, you are going to come here to complain.
That logic really confuses me. ????

This is the type of constructive advice/discussions that is badly needed here. Thanks.
Is that a cpu fan underneath?

I see why you all fight in this forum!!! When in the world do you read in my post that i hate heat and i hate the design? Please, where? Tell me where I did say it? You would send ppl to jail ahah :)

Man! Come on! Read carefully, before typing that fast!
First, I’ve never talked about design.
And I’ve never complained about the heat. It’s silly to have to explain again, since it feels so clear from my prrvious post:

It’s crazy to buy a product and not being able to use it properly as intended to be.
Having a class A amp that can act as class A amp only if you’re lucky, otherwise you gonna enjoy class A, only for 30 mins, as temperature raises drastically. And heat it’s not a problem to me! It’s a problem for the amp that switches modes. I’ve had class A amps, but they don’t have to change modes or switching modes in order to avoid “melting”. Class A love heat and I love class A and heat. AGAIN, this seems to be an issue only for half of the users, SO I assume there are different batch of products and some of them seem to be defective.

In order for you to not misunderstand my words (I still don’t get how it’s possible), I love the aesthetic design of this product. Soundwise, I couldn’t tell anything before trying it, but it seems everybody love how it sounds.

Please, ask me if something is not clear about this post, before commenting. :)
Hope this clarify for you!

Anyone know if the EU stock also is updated with new controller firmware?

Btw, a tip if you are going to use a 12v PC fan with a cheap (non-usb) wall adapter. Install a power-filter between them. The electrical noise from the adapter will make the fan sound worse than its supposed to. I noticed this when experimenting with homemade desktop fans made from pc-fans. I used some RC-hobby filters but i had to solder and stuff. USB adapter should be filtered already but thats only 5v if not using some step up or fans made for 5v.

I found this product that is "plug n play" but its supposed to isolate the electrical noise from the fan going to the computer. It surely will be do the opposite aswell at the same time? Any engineer here that can tell? Its also on Amazon i think.

https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/pc-h...wer-filter-for-pc-4-pin-connector-p-9062.html

Or mayby there is some premade cables for that purpose. I know there is USB->FAN but thats only 5V. It might work but airflow wont be great.
Some have step-up to 12v but the question is if they are noisefree. Another option is a fan speed-controller that also filters the electrical noise.

Hi, the S17 Pro always works in class-A. There's no class AB:)

Just choose fan with high performance at 12V and will be good enought at 5V. My first solution was 80mm PSU fan with power need of 0.27A at 12V. At 5V from USB Aune S17 Pro had max 61-62 at max mode :
5vfan.JPG

I will repeat myself : with blue led fan I see if it works because with black plastic fan I had to put my hand inside gap between DAC and Amp to check airflow
Gustard A20h was very warm before that (at single, standalone work) now it is completely cold so as for me that is 2in1 solution :)

Interestning. I did not think 5v would generate enough airflow but thats good temps. I might have been overthinking this. Was ready to buy a "high end" Noctua 200mm fan, power-filter and silicon antivibration-feet :P

Hi All,

Just received my S17 back from the distributor with the re-programmed volume control and would like to share my findings.

1. I now have 32 concrete (linear) volume steps, 0, 1, 2 and every ‘even’ number uptil 63
2. The S17 sounds as exceptionally good as before.
3. Temperature is not (and never was) an issue for me.
4. The re-programming was painless and very fast, excellent service from the German/Austrian distributor (shipment from the Netherlands to Austria, re-programming and return shipment took just over 1 week); Unit was handled with care and factory-sealed again.
5. For reference I tested the following headphones with the volume settings that I consider comfortable (all on Low Gain and 100mA Bias):

Single Ended:
Fidelio X2 vol 24
Ollo s4x vol 24
ATH-a990z vol 24
K712 pro vol34
Fostex t20rp vol44

Balanced:
HD650 vol24
T90 (balanced mod) vol24
HE400i vol26
ATH-r70x vol30
HE6se v2 vol42

The latter (having the reputation of being notoriously difficult to drive) plays fantastic on low gain and a volume setting of 42 so lots of headroom. Also I find that headphones that I used to EQ in the past (on previous amps) I now like more without any EQ on the S17.

The S17 is placed directly on top of my R26 DAC but temperature hardly goes over mid to high fifties. (could be because I have sufficient ventilation in the room as I also use my Airco for heating, meaning there is constant movement of air).
