What's your opinion about the sound signature of the new firmware? I upgraded yesterday and I'm in trouble, the new one seems to have less dymanics 'bite' and more ambience...

There is no update or news on it yet.
Seems like AUNE is busy on their new dap.

If you check their chinese site you can find a dedicated base for M2 dap family, the M2-T:

From the pictures the base is connected via HDMI, has spfif, optical, aes ebu, I2S and USB ports and is equipped with a remote.
Even a manual (in chinese) is available for download.
They're developing a specific 1.30 base enabling firmware.
 
I hope it will be sold for less than 120$...

I took some time to do a very rapid check of the new three available 1.30 firmwares in my M2S.
I used my FLC8S iems in red-grey-grey configuration (maybe in the future I'll do another test with senn HD800).
Digital filter was set to SH LD
M2-1.30
Aune description:
Ordinary firmware
This is the standard firmware and timbrically sits in the middle of the two others.
It's more resolving than M2_Chun1 but less than M2_Chun2.
For me the sound is to the extreme limit of starting to be cold.
The warm allure is not present anymore but voices are still organic and sibilants are never aggressive.
File order is by name.

M2_Chun1
Aune description:
Sound smooth and delicate for the human voice
Does not support APE FLAC MP3 compression formats
Support WAV DFF ISO and so on
The sound signature is very similar to 1.22 firmware, with that little bit of warm allure I love.
Midbass seems to have a longer decay than the standard 1.30 firmware.
Voices are intimate, sibilants are never aggressive but you loose some detail.
File order is by timestamp, the same annoying 1.22 bug.

M2_Chun2
Aune description:
Sound equalization / resolution / correct for instrumental music
Does not support APE FLAC MP3 DFF ISO format
Only WAV format is supported
Extremely clean and luminous, sounds are more shaped than the standard 1.30 firmware.
Timbre now remember the iBasso DX90, seems like AK4490 became an ESS Sabre dac.
Is very resolving, bass is very tight and fast, midbass is less present than the standard firmware.
Voices are less organic, a little bit drier.
Sibilants are more evident and sharp.
Not my cup of tea.
File order is by name.

Overall I like the standard 1.30 firmware the best.

Thanks for the impressions bettersimple. Sounds like I'd prefer M2_Chun1 sound but don't want to sacrifice for format support to get it. I'm going Aune releases firmware with smooth sound but increased file format support in the future!

You have to download the fourth one: M2_1.30.rar,
the first one enables the integration with the base but points to an invalid url...

first of all thank you for your quick response, but for me still dns unreachable, or there is an italian isp network lock (very strange) , I tried also opendns and google dns, same issue.
Or the link it's broken , I tried also the three link before and I face the same issue.
when I click I see the path : http://pic3.hifidiy.net/www/2016/aune/m2/M2_1.30.rar , and if i test with ping hifidiy.net domain , my dns respond that not exist.
So, no problem. I'm still waiting the device, next week maybe will arrive and I will check the firmware, I hope will be the 1.30 whithout annoyng alphabetical folder order issue.
