You know it's strange because I usually find a boosted 6k-7k area quite harsh as well.
Yet for some weird reason the ToneKing T4 isn't sibilant at all.

Really my big fear with the T800 is that 3.5k bump will be way beyond my tolerances.
According to the graphs I've seen it's like 13db higher than the mids...
13db? Ouch!!
I guess I'll have to EQ it out, but can I pull it down enough without screwing with the signature too much??
Because I'm thinking at least -8db.
that is the raw response, 3.5khz should be boosted to meet the target, on compensated graph the midrange will be very neutral, have no idea what are you talking about 13db peak over the mids

Okay, perhaps I'm reading it wrong?
Here is why I came to that conclusion:
If you look at 800hz it is right at 90db.
Then if you look at 3.5k it is at 102db.
That's +12db higher than the mids.. some of the lower mids fall by -1db below 90db, so add it all up and it = +13db

All I know is the Harman Target doesn't seem to apply to my hearing.
My head/ears don't seem to be "compensating" for boosted 2k-4k treble.
If an IEM has boosted 2k-4k treble, I hear it and I hate it.
I probably should have canceled my T800 order...
Maybe it will sound good to me when it arrives.
If not, at least it's popular enough that I can sell it for little to no loss.

you can get the green damper, as you can see it lowers the 3.5khz peak by around 7db
i use them with the damper on by the way, they sound a little bit dark in the mids, but i love them like that

Post #617 above has a frequency graph of the various Knowles filters.

The filters affect the 2-4khz region, and they cost a few dollars per pair.

Using the filters, you can tune the 2-4khz region to your liking.

That would be excellent! Lets hope so...
But, doesn't the Green dampener also lower the higher frequencies?
I love the details of frequencies after 4k as long as they aren't TOO boosted of course.
I suppose with the Green filter I can also add in some EQ and it may work...

I am not happy with the bass on my T4 but with EQ I really do LOVE it..
So HOPEFULLY the same thing will apply with the T800?

Yes I saw it, (thanks for posting that!)
I have already ordered the Green, Red, Brown, and White filters including the mounting tool..

Seems like the Stock+White will work best for me.. along with a little EQ.
Unfortunately those filters will probably arrive looong after my T800 arrive, so by then I'll probably get used to them as they are! lol!

are these filters reusable? from the pictures of the mount tool it looks like you have to destroy them to get them out

Just be aware that it already has the white filter installed. So you have to use math to calculate the true additive effect of an additional filter. In other words, white PLUS xyz color.

Here is the base filter values from Knowles:

AD338898-7EE9-41C2-A202-177C7342E761.jpeg

Since the T800 already has a white filter (680 ohms), adding a green filter (1500 ohms) will give an end result closest to a red filter (2200 ohms) by itself.

Awesome info! Thanks Slater!
I think @FastAndClean posted that graph based on the white filter already being in there though?
