Sometimes I really hate you guys. lol.

I think I'm fine with the Nighthawks for now. If I still decide that even semi-open headphones aren't good enough, I'll go from there. But open vs closed for gaming is hardly a competition. Open are always far better.

I can't imagine the need for another over-ear to go with the Hawks. Thus far I haven't had any music (bar one or two abnormal albums) where I thought to myself "this would sound a lot better if I were listening to it with something else."

My only gripe is that I can't travel with 'em as easily.

Just took delivery of a Nighthawk from US dealer.
Not only is there security tape on the color product box, there is a plastic zip tie on the zipper of the leatherette black carrying case.
The padding and cushioning inside is bordering on excessive.
Much better packing than far more expensive HE1000, LCD3, etc.

Good point about the quality of the AQ packaging, but don't LCDs still come with the weather proof, foam lined carry case?

Yes they still do.  But the fit and finish of Pelican waterproof cases does not look as refine as say a nice wooden Stax case or any Zero Halliburton Aluminum cases.

Well, dog snagged the cable and my Hawks took a spill. They're functionally fine but the liquid wood shell got a nice chip in it. :frowning2:

It's not awful, but it's visible:

No big deal, but that's what happens when you have no carpets. :p
